The summer boating season might have just started, but there are plenty of boating activities and adventures that you’ll want to make sure you complete before the summer is over. If you haven’t already, here are some boating bucket list ideas to help you have an unforgettable summer on the water.

1. Take a Sunrise Cruise

Anytime on the boat is time well spent, but taking a cruise at sunrise is a truly magical experience. Head out in the early hours to find the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. The serene beauty of this time of day will help you avoid the crowds and beat the heat–plus you’ll get to witness nature’s light show reflecting off the water.

You can just as easily take a sunset cruise if you’re not an early riser. Simply head out on the water in the late afternoon to catch the sun setting on the horizon.

2. Explore a New Route or Destination

It’s easy to take your boat out on the familiar routes that you’re comfortable with navigating. But this summer, challenge yourself to explore new waterways and destinations that you haven’t before.

You probably already have someplace that comes to mind immediately, so take the leap this summer and venture out to new horizons. This might be a scenic lake, a hidden cove, or an island that you haven’t gotten around to visiting before.

Get recommendations from other boaters, local guides, or online forums to help familiarize yourself with the new route before you head out. The new route could even become a new favorite.

3. Anchor Overnight

If you haven’t already, camping out overnight on your boat is truly a memorable experience. Plus, this allows you to take a route that requires multiple days to complete.

Plan ahead to find a peaceful cove or marina along your route where you can anchor your boat overnight. You’ll be able to enjoy the starry night sky and cozy up in your boat’s cabin while the soothing sounds of the water play on all night long. Then, you’ll wake up on board and be ready for another full day of boating fun!

4. Try Watersports

There are plenty of thrilling watersports you can try out this summer like wakeboarding, tubing, waterskiing, and more. No matter what age you are, it’s never too late to try your hand at one of these exhilarating activities.

As you glide across the top of the water, you’ll get a rush like you’ve never felt before! So, you definitely don’t want to pass up this opportunity if you get the chance. Make sure to take it slow at first to get the hang of it, but you’ll be looking like the pros in no time!

Break out of your normal boating habits this summer and add a few of these ideas to your schedule. You never know what new experience might turn into a regular tradition each summer!
